I write poetry & short stories, I’m a romantic. I make sure every single lyric I bring to the music is potent.” says Anjuli. Clearly, the music doesn’t lie. For this reason, The305.com named Anjuli 2010’s “Songwriter of the Year”. She is also a graduate of world re known Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Not only has she put in countless hours of work towards her craft, but she has also managed to create a sound that distinguishes her from the rest. This singer/emcee/producer/songwriter/multi instrumentalist has the capacity to take the music world by storm.
Many people first became familiar with Anjuli in 2006, when an acoustic ballad she wrote & produced titled “Raindrops” got into the hands of Mr Worldwide, rapper Pitbull. Pitbull was enamored with Anjuli’s exceptional songwriting abilities & unique vocal style & decided to place the song on his sophomore release “El Mariel”. The song became a meaningful tribute record in which Pitbull dedicated to his father & best friend who passed away earlier that year.
Through her captivating live performances, balancing both her seductive rap skills & sensual R&B voice, her talents has afforded her opportunities to open up for Lil Kim, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Slick Rick, Lord Jamar, Rass Kass & M1 of Dead Prez. In 2010, she performed at an exclusive charity event for Russell Simmons in Coconut, Grove, FL during his visit to Miami. In 2006, she traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia to perform at the world famous Jazz Q Festival. Anjuli is also a 3 time winner of Showtime At the Apollo in Harlem, NY.
This level of exposure was not sudden nor by coincidence. Anjuli was first introduced to music by her father Pedro, a latin percussionist/singer from Havana, Cuba. At the age of 4, Anjuli began sharpening her skills as a musician & performer. She also learned to play piano & guitar at performing arts school. It was after those key experiences that Anjuli realized she also had a deep passion for writing. At age 13, she started composing up to 5 songs daily and began to unearth her gift as a songwriter. Since then, Anjuli has composed well over 2500 songs. At the age of 17, Anjuli received a vocal scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music.
In 2010, Anjuli made her way back to Miami & began to start building her career as a recording artist. Since, she has released 2 full length projects, Starvation Vol. 1. & 2. These projects showcased Anjuli's vocal & writing chops over pop, r&b, hip hop & reggae production. She has built up quite a following in Miami over the past 2 years with her energetic live show, captivating audiences in popular Miami venues such as Bardot, The Stage & Blackbird Ordinary. In Anjuli’s case, the pavement is still fresh. Upon hearing her music or watching her perform, people have become mesmerized, desiring more. Embracing an enlightenment that will not come to pass, the music industry has yet to see such a shining star.
