Ms. Plapinger is the singer of MS MR, a punchy, melodic dance-pop duo that consist of her and Max Hershenow. She also helps run Neon Gold Records, a dance and pop label she founded with her childhood friend Derek Davies while they were in college. Neon Gold released early singles by Passion Pit, Marina and the Diamonds and Ellie Goulding on seven-inch vinyl. “We were essentially running the business out of our dorm rooms,” she said. “We’d wake up early to fulfill orders, package everything, mail them out.”
