Kevin Pistol recorded his first three song demo while living in Boston, Mass, at the age of 12.
Nothing ever came of that demo other than a little street fame, after all not many 12 year old kids had a demo tape back then. He continued writing and rapping, attacking any and every MC in sight. It wasn't long before he developed a reputation as the coldest young MC in his neighborhood, I’m sure his 140 plus I.Q. had something to do with that. This went on until the late 90s, when his mother decided that after 4 years of hardship to return to their hometown of Denver, Colorado. After settling in he was eager to make a name for himself on the Colorado hip hop scene. He began reciting raps in the hall ways at school, after class, and on the block in Park Hill (Kevin’s Denver neighborhood). People were not feeling him, it was the height of the east coast/ west coast controversy and he had a heavy east coast rap style. Over the next 3 years his style developed into a rare blend of east coast lyricism and west coast aggression. Kevin went on to record several different projects with a host of different producers at numerous studios. This includes: “Who Riddin” with fellow Hustlinflow label mate Drettie Goines, his collaboration with Tom "Atom Bomb" on the classic B.I.P.O.L.E.R. album "Kataklyzmic", as well as his first solo project "Thinking Out Loud", which features heavy production from Hustlinflow’s exclusive producer & label mate Headache. After depleting his resources on these projects in late 2005 Kevin decided it was time to venture into production. He took the last of his funds that he had saved from teaching and purchased a Macintosh G5 studio setup. Over a month he not only learned to record and mix his music, he also began to develop impressive production skills. For the next six months he practiced producing and recording and by the end of that time period he had produced most of the now classic 37 song double CD "Collecting My Thoughts". Kevin dropped the “Kevin Pistol LP” in May 2008, once again keeping Kevin’s buzz going. Kevin’s work ethic from 1996 until now has produced, featured and recorded over 750 songs to his credit (you can hear his music library and current works by visiting www.hustlinflow.com). Kevin has performed sets with Jurassic 5, E- 40, Keak Da Sneak, & The Luniz, as well as performing for 30,000 people at 2010’s 420 Rally in Denver. He has songs & videos with Snoop Dogg, Bun B, & E- 40 on his new album, as well as features with: Jayo Felony, C-BO, Killa Tay, Marvelous, Mitchy Slick, Philthy Rich, Laroo & Guce in his arsenal. In 2011, Kevin’s internet presence has sky rocketed with over 1.5 million hits across the net and counting! This includes WorldStarHiphop.com, XXL.com, MTV.com, Youtube & numerous other sites. Kevin was also interviewed by The Source Magazine and that article was posted on The Source.com. Kevin has been hard at work for 2011 as you can see and has no plans of slowing for 2012. Armed with his label, “Hustlinflow Music Group”, which has talked to or is in negotiation with labels such as: Def Jam, Epic, Universal, Interscope, Bad Boy, No Limit Forever, Hoo Bangin, and more, 2012 is looking brighter than ever for this young spitter! With his new album “I- Thoughts” set to drop first quarter 2012, a strong internet presence, a radio campaign heating up, and one of the most diverse rap styles in the game, Kevin is gearing up for a serious industry take over, but don’t take our word for it, GOOGLE IT FOR YOURSELF!
