The second full-length recording by Process of Guilt, is a major step forward for the portuguese band. Progressing even further from the post-doom sound crafted on their much lauded debut Renounce, the four musicians keep spreading their creative wings, breaking down genre boundaries and solidifying their very own personality. The album was captured, produced and mixed at 5ª Dimensão Studios – between August and November 2008 – by João Bacelar and Fernando Mendes with the band. Afterwards the tracks were mastered at the Boiler Room, by Collin Jordan (well-known for his work with such bands as Ministry, Minsk or Buried at Sea)."(...) this portuguese band may yet emerge as the forerunners in a genre that's moving forward, much like the music itself, at a geological pace. Refreshingly different, their particular brand of death/doom is atypical of either traditional doom or any other sub-genre you care to think of.(...) ultimately producing something uniquely of their own."Anthony Balaqua . Aversionline (US)"ALBUM OF THE DAY: PROCESS OF GUILT «EROSION»"Roadburn (NL)"It is spectacularly heavy, it is dense as concrete and dark as our future. (...) Erosion is one of the finest examples of the doom genre. Process of Guilt is an accomplished band that deserves more exposure. (...) This is a remarkable record" - 4/5Deaf Sparrow Zine (US)"I cannot see any other band, well-known or underground, even come close this year (...) or even in the next couple of years, unless Process Of Guilt are about to outdo themselves." - 9.4/10Marcel Hubregtse . Metal Storm (NL)"Warning: WILL depress the hell out of you!" - 5/6Marcin Lewandowski . Imhotep (NO)"I'd highly advise you give the talented Process of Guilt some immediate attention. Metal Review (US)"Process of Guilt have delivered an immensely solid, if not ground-breaking, release." - 7.5/10Kim Kelly . Terrorizer (UK)"Doom metal can and should sound brutal, the whole point of it is to hear music that sounds like the end of life, apocalypse coming into your world, and someone shanking you in slow motion."This Is Book’s Music (US)"But even now, with erosion, PROCESS OF GUILT shows that they play - high in all cases - in the top league." - 9/10Olvido . Metal.de (Ger)"A powerful, powerful Doom Metal album that is hard to match! I can not help to give this work the full mark: 5 hedgehogs! " - 5/5Fimbulthul . Zwaremetalen (NL)"This disc is definitely pulling me down, and that's exactly what I expect from this sort of music!" - 9/10Slowmas . Doom Metal Front (Ger)"It is classical in the best sense of the term; this is a block of massive and dense sound, brutal and dry. However, the band is achieving something of its own on this album (...) there is a mineral edge to it, a roughness that is, if not deeply personal, radical, profound and sincere.Bertrand Marchal . Doom-Metal.com (No)«EROSION» is available directly through our website under the MERCH sectionProcess Of Guilt started their existence as a band throughout the Portraits of Regret recordings in early 2002, having their foundations firmly based in doom/death metal music. In late 2003, the quartet recorded Demising Grace and showed a new level in the development of their music. Incorporating a more organic feel to their own vision, the four musicians gave a stronger and more concise production to their own brand of doom/death. Between 2003 and 2005, the considerable list of live appearances can thus be crowned with performances alongside Morgion and Mourning Beloveth. Besides the intense live activity there was also an effort to create a new set of songs that were in line with the enduring expansion of the band. In late December of 2005, the recordings for the full-length album Renounce finally begun. Mastered at the Cutting Room Studios, in Sweden, by Thomas Eberger (who worked with bands like Katatonia, Opeth and Daylight Dies), the album took the band to all four corners of their native country, impressing fans with their devastating performances and also sharing the stage with acts as diverse as Katatonia, The Ocean, Intronaut, Swallow The Sun, Napalm Death or Rotten Sound. Paving the ground for the release of their second full-length, titled Erosion, Process of Guilt recently unleashed three limited releases on the masses: a split 10” with british master of mystery Caïna, a remastered version of Demising Grace on pro-CDr and a tape version of the debut album. Some Thoughts on Process of Guilt’s Renounce“A highly successful album which sidesteps the clichés of doom/death while holding on to what makes the subgenre so perennially attractive to its disciples. (...) An optimist may suggest that a record like this one could help bridge the gap between two hitherto divergent areas of extreme music and make life a lot more interesting for us all”.Joe Stannard . Terrorizer (UK)“I honestly haven’t encountered an album of such impressive overall quality from this niche of the metal world in quite some time, so I’m really blown away by this material. Remarkable”.Andrew . Aversionline (US)“A truly inspiring revelation of a band that must be heard to be believed, especially in a live setting, where they have the potential to redefine the rules of how music of this sort should be approached on stage. Mandatory, this is”.José Carlos Santos . Unrestrained (Can)
