High Level Static were formed back in 2002 by Ermis Koukaris and Stelios Liaros in the city of Kozani where we both were students there. Already good friends and music nerds, we decided to try and record some music just for the kicks of it, at that time there was no plan of signing to a label and publishing our work. We both came from different music backgrounds, Ermis a self-taught guitar player that for quite a while was into Metal music and only for short time was venturing electronic music and Stelios, a bass player with a dozen of music degrees in classical music and (mostly) jazz studies.
 
We were impressed of the synthesizers and the variety of sounds and styles that only naturally the first electronic tracks were produced, with very few means, an old outdated synth and two PCs. Mood was high though and the excitement of creation led us in the making of a full demo.
We thought, what the hell, might as well send it to some labels and check their feedback.
And so we did..
 
First tries responses were dissappointing, very little feedback and most of it bad.
We gathered spirit and sent some more after correcting / improving the compositions.
Even worse this time.
 
So we tried again.
 
First glimmer of light was when Seba Dolimont chose a track of that demo ("Absence" in a very rough version) to be part of the sampler Electrauma Vol.6.
And then Alex Storm of Trisol Records, one of the leading labels in EBM music contacted us in interest in signing the band. Few emails later and the draft of the contract was in our hands.
I can still remember the moment.
 
Some months later, the 10 tracks to consist our debut were as polished as we could have them, artwork was ready and soon after the summer of 2003 "Shining" was released, receiving exquisite feedback from the relevent press. Orkus magazine named High Level Static as "newcomers of the month" in their October issue giving the cd a solid 9 out of 10 (or was it 8 out of 10, can't honestly remember).
 
Participation in samplers followed like an avalanche, High Level Static songs were to be found in many samplers like "Orkus Clubhits", "Leichenschrei", "Electro Club Attack" and "Greek Electro" among others. The pinnacle of these must be "Orkus Presents: The best of 2003" where HLS were in the same sampler with big names like HIM and Within Temptation.
 
Sadly and for various reasons HLS went into a hiatus from 2005 and on until now.
 
We now feel again ready to make music with the same enthusiasm as back then. We missed making music, we missed the feedback with the people, making (as always) music for us.. and for the people..
