"The moment the boys of Say! Don't Play hit the stage, a wave of powerful pop music penetrates every eardrum, syncing heartbeats, and you know these guys are headed somewhere. This is a common experience shared with the New Orleans pop/rock band Say! Don't Play. The group came together in 2010 through a series of bizarre coincidences led by the legendary Hurricane Katrina. Life was not easy after losing a home and relocating, but Brent Herrington (guitar/backup vocals) found his place right away upon meeting band members Tyler Forrest (lead vocals/guitar) and Sean Dunaway (drums), who were high school buddies. Before then, Tabe Rowe (bass) had been introduced to them through mutual friends and was always known as the best bass player around. Later, the four would meet up to discover perfect chemistry. Their extremely expressive, out-going personalities clicked right away and they knew they had to form Say! Don't Play.
S!DP released their debut full-length album Girls Suck in September 2011. The album included the hit song "Don't Let Me Go", which was made into their first official music video. The album also includes the popular song, "Scene From The Movie", which won the hearts of every listener. The massive sounds were captured by Mike Govaere (Every Avenue) at Downbeat Studios in Chicago, IL. In March 2012, the band has released two singles, "New Cocaine", and the bands biggest hit to date, "Love Sick", (also Mike Goavere) which has been featured on numerous radio stations across the country.
There's more to Say! Don't Play than just music. Lead singer, Tyler Forrest, has a developing career in film acting. He made his movie debut in Stolen, working with acting legend, Nicolas Cage, while also appearing in several TV shows including USA's Common Law and TNT's Scent of the Missing. Recently wrapped are two supporting roles in two SyFy feature films titled Winged Terror and Heebie Jeebies.
From selling out local clubs to touring national to headlining regional tours, the band has come such a long way since their beginnings. But no matter what, they will never forget their roots and will always remember how lucky they are. These four are best friends. They share so much heart and passion, and nothing can take that away. Not even a catastrophic hurricane.
