Dissect were and is a remarkable part of the flourishing dutch deathmetal scene of the early and mid nineties. Amongst the likes of Pestilence, Gorefest, Sempiternal Deathreign, Thanatos, Sinister, God Dethroned and many others of that time, Dissect made quite an impression. Gigging away in a time where every venue was packed with hordes of thrashing, banging and diving metal maniacs Dissect did numerous sensational concerts with Dismember, Gorefest, Edge of Sanity, Pestilence, Disharmonic Orchestra, Sempiternal Deathreign, Masacra, Pungent Stench and many, many others. Performing in periodes of time almost weekly, about 10 snail-mail letters every day, selling more than 500 Demo-tapes within ten weeks, this was Dissect in the glory days of deathmetal… After the triumph of the Demos “Growls of Death (1991)” and “Presage to the Eternity (1992)” Dissect got signed by dutch record-label Cyber Records. This resulted in 1993 in the release of Dissect’s debut album “Swallow Swouming Mass” which became the band’s masterpiece and a solid success.
 
Several years after “Swallow Swouming Mass” Dissect dissolved slowly due to some problems and differences.
 
Also the deathmetal scene changed and seemed to have perished together with the band.
 
The band around notorious cult-figure Vincent Scheerman was quintessential with their downtuned old school deathmetal, gory lyrics and an extraordinary ultra-low natural deathgrunt. Dissect surely made it’s mark on the dutch deathmetal scene. Those were glorious times; will those glorious times ever come again?
 
We don’t know, untill then we can only hope, embracing the gruesome legacy of Dissect…
