Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Quilla grew up loving music and dance, and learning diverse languages. Born to a French-Canadian father and a Peruvian mother, she always felt like she had her feet in two different worlds. She began composing and performing music at age 11 and joined her first punk band at age 17. She later began playing indie pop and composed music for a circus troop in Montreal. Always interested in traveling, she took trips to remote places in India, Cambodia, Peru and Paraguay and was inspired to create her first album "Beautiful Hybrid".
