The Gothenburg Address is an Edinburgh, Scotland-based post rock band, comprising David Jeans (drums), Chris Bathgate (guitar), Rob Doig (bass) and Luke Joyce (guitar).

Formed in Edinburgh in 2008, The Gothenburg Address has former members of several prominent Scottish bands such as Arab Strap, The Zephyrs, and Raising Miss June. Playing a series of low key shows around Glasgow and Edinburgh, the band quickly built up a cult following, culminating in them playing the main stage at George Square, Glasgow at the Winterfest Festival to an audience of several thousand people. 
 
This early success was largely due to being named XFM band of the week[1], and crowned 'Unsigned Heroes' by Radio 1,[2] on the basis of some rough demo material, which was released as a limited self pressed EP 'Shimmer in the City'. 
 
The band were also recently described by The Scotsman as "...purely instrumental, conveying a late night / early dawn atmosphere through chilly guitars and understated harmonies."[3] 
 
In 2009 The Gothenburg Address went into Split Level studios in Edinburgh to record their new self titled EP, which will be available from Napster, Amazon and as a limited edition CD single.[4] 
 
The band are currently recording their debut album.[5] 
 
 
[edit] Soundtrack work 
The Gothenburg Address were asked along with fellow Scottish Post-Rock band Mogwai to soundtrack the short film 'Sonnets from Scotland' by photographer Alex Boyd.[6] Boyd would also later go on to provide the artwork for their debut EP, which uses his trademark 'Rückenfigur' style. He has described the bands sound as "...dark, brooding, glacial, majestic and intelligent."[7]
