Myriads was formed in 1997, in Stavanger in Norway. The band comprises Alexander Skottene Twiss (vocals and guitar), Mona Skottene Twiss (vocals, piano, organ and keyboard), Jan Petter Skretting (guitar) and Rudi Jünger (drums and percussion). Although Myriads’ music defies categorizing, the group would describe their music as a fusion between metal and classical sounds which also contains some elements of folk music and industrial parts. Their lyrics are written by Alexander and Mona and are based on psychology, philosophy, dreams and reality with dramatical elements. In 1998 Myriads recorded a four track demo-CD entitled “In Spheres without Time” which was sold out quickly after its release. In 1999 Myriads signed a record deal with Napalm Records. In June they recorded their first full-length album, also called “In Spheres without Time”, in Mansion Studio. The album was released worldwide the 22nd of November 1999. It received many good reviews. In 2001 Myriads recorded their second album, “Introspection”, in Tico Tico Studio (Children of Bodom, Sentenced and Impaled Nazarene) in Finland. It was produced by Myriads and engineered by Ahti Kortelainen in 5 weeks. “Introspection” was mixed by Ahti and Alexander later the same year. The album was mastered by Gran Finnberg at The Mastering Room (Opeth, Dimmu Borgir, Dark Tranquillity and In Flames) in 2002. “Introspection” was released worldwide the 8th of April 2002 on Napalm Records. It received many great reviews. “Falling in the Equinox” was released on a compilation-CD in Orkus Magazin in the autumn of 2002. “Dreams of Reality” was released on a compilation-CD called “The Metal Museum Vol. 5: Gothic Metal” in 2006. Myriads have played several concerts during the years they have existed and this is an important part of the band. More recently, Myriads recorded three new songs for a demo-CD in Studio Myriad, Alexander’s home studio. The songs were mixed and mastered by Sigurd Magnus Ekle, who also played bass guitar, and the demo-CD was ready in July 2010. The songs will be featured on their planned third album. Myriads are hoping to secure a new record deal so they can start recording their long expected third album.
